Are you thinking about transforming your shape with breast implants? We’re here to help you choose the perfect pair! Dr. Gallus is an experienced breast implant surgeon who has helped numerous patients find their preferred size and shape.
While we support each patient’s aesthetic choices, if you are considering implants greater than 600cc, you might regret it—here, Dr. Gallus explains breast implant sizing and why over 600cc is very rarely the ideal choice.
What breast implant sizes are available?
The largest implants you can get are:
- Silicone gel-filled implants up to 800cc
- Saline-filled implants up to 900cc
For even more dramatic results, some surgeons have been known to “over-fill” saline breast implants up to about 1000cc.
What is a reasonable breast implant size?
The breast implant size for you depends on (a) the look you want and (b) your body! The vast majority of patients end up with implants somewhere in the range of 200-550cc based on our discussion and using breast implant sizers during the consultation to help preview your outcome.
Dr. Gallus has very rarely placed breast implants over 600cc. Simply put, for most patients, under 600cc is enough to reach their goals without placing undue weight on their chest. Saline implants, in particular, may be very heavy at volumes over 600cc! For example, a saline implant filled to 1000cc adds two pounds of weight to your chest. Two saline implants of that volume would add 4 pounds of weight.
Choosing the right size depends on factors that we consider and discuss together in the office, such as your height—Are you 4’11” or are you 6 feet tall? Your body frame makes a huge difference in how, for example, a modest 150cc implant will look on you.

Tips to prep for your breast augmentation consultation with Dr. Gallus
To help fuel this conversation in your breast augmentation consultation, you can prepare in a few ways:
- If you have implants already, bring your implant card or contact your original surgeon. Finding out your existing implants’ information, especially the volume in ccs, can help us decide together on the best implant size to achieve the revised look you want.
- Bring wish pics. Almost everyone says they want a “natural look” with breast implants, but what constitutes a “natural” appearance varies from person to person! To help Dr. Gallus understand the effect you’re going for, bring pictures of someone else whose breast size and shape constitute your vision for your post-op look.
