Dr. Gallus Breaks Down Kylie Jenner’s Implant Type + Profile

Published June 18, 2025 by Katerina Gallus, MD FACS

When Kylie Jenner casually dropped her breast-implant specs—445 cc, silicone, moderate profile—in a Tiktok comment, she handed the internet a masterclass in transparent body talk. And the plastic surgeon San Diego gals trust for all things breast augmentation, Dr. Katerina Gallus, is here to explain Kylie’s implant and surgery details so you can translate them to your goals.

What does “445 cc” actually mean?

CC stands for cubic centimeters—think volume, not cup size. That volume determines how much the breast projects and how it fills your current breast envelope. Here’s the cheat sheet:

  • 250–350 cc ➜ makes a dramatic change on petite frames
  • 400–500 cc ➜ balances average builds
  • 550 cc+ ➜ moves the visual needle on broader chests

Kylie’s frame is on the petite side, which is evident by how WOW her results are with 445cc. Although her transformation was dramatic, her surgeon thoughtfully guided her toward a larger implant that would turn heads without sacrificing an elegant look.

Pro tip: Bra cup size is fickle across brands; cc’s are the only objective measurement. During your sizing session, we pop different cc “sizers” into your sports bra and Vectra 3D imaging, so you can see exactly how each volume shapes your body.

Silicone vs. Saline: Why Kylie Chose Silicone Gel Implant

Silicone gel and saline implants are both FDA-approved, but they behave differently in the body and affect the look and feel of your breasts:

Silicone Gel (Kylie’s choice)Saline
FeelSoft, marshmallow-like; mimics natural tissueFirmer, water-balloon feel
LookNatural slope, especially in thin tissueSlightly rounder, can show edges/rippling in thin tissue
Rupture“Silent” rupture — gel stays put; needs MRI/ultrasound for detection Quick deflation you can see and feel
IncisionA tad longer (pre-filled)Shorter (filled after placement)

Most of our La Jolla patients who, like Kylie, want a plush, natural feel gravitate toward silicone—perfect for that “are-they-real?” softness. Saline remains a great option for those who prefer a saltwater filling.

Moderate profile = the Goldilocks sweet spot

Profile refers to how far an implant projects forward for a given base width. Picture three pancakes stacked:

  • Low profile = wide base, gentle projection—ideal for broader chests and subtle fullness
  • Moderate profile = balanced base width and projection—AKA the Goldilocks “just right” Kylie chose.
  • High & ultra-high profile = narrower base, maximum projection—great for petite frames and seeking dramatic cleavage.

By opting for a moderate profile, Kylie gained cleavage and upper-pole volume while keeping proportions in close harmony with her shoulders and waist.

Implant Placement 101: Why “half under the muscle” is the most popular

You’ll often hear “subglandular” (over the pectoral muscle) and “submuscular” (completely under). Kylie’s surgeon reportedly chose the hybrid “dual-plane” or “half-under-the-muscle” approach—and here’s why we love it:

1. Natural drape up top

The upper pectoralis muscle covers the implant’s upper two-thirds, softening edges and hiding ripples. Think of the implant as a sleek slip dress giving you curves, and the pectoral muscle as lightweight shapewear that smooths everything out so no seams or ripples show.

2. Support where you need it

The muscle acts like an internal bra for the implant, helping maintain position and reducing long-term sagging—especially important with 400-plus cc volumes.

3. Optimal cleavage below

Because the lower part of the implant sits directly beneath breast tissue, the lower pole can round out more gracefully, giving that alluring lower-curve without the “stuck” look.

Every body is unique—patients with robust existing breast tissue may thrive with subglandular placement, while endurance athletes sometimes prefer full submuscular for added protection. In consultation, Dr. Gallus maps your ribcage, tissue thickness, and lifestyle to pinpoint the placement that checks every box.

“Dr. Gallus at Restore SD is amazing!! My entire experience from the initial consultation to my 6 month post-op appointment was fantastic! It was really cool working with an all women team. They took great care of me, I highly recommend Dr. Gallus and her team.”

What if my dream look isn’t Kylie’s?

That’s the fun part! CCs, gel type, profile, and placement are variables in a gorgeous equation that should equal you. During your sizing experience with Dr. Gallus, we’ll:

  • Test-drive sizers from our smallest CC options to the largest
  • Preview 3-D simulations to test low vs. high profiles
  • Talk lifestyle to help determine placement—because implants have to work at Barre class and on the beach
