Get the Bust of Your Dreams with Breast Augmentation

Published May 6, 2019 by Katerina Gallus, MD FACS
Breast Augmentation

If you feel frustrated with the way that you look when you try on dresses, bathing suits, or blouses because you feel that they fit too loosely on the top, you are not alone. Around the world, millions of women have the exact same frustration because they are unsatisfied with their small bust size. You may be able to enhance the appeared size of your bust using a padded bra. But wouldn’t it be great to have the extra fullness without needing specialized clothing? It is possible for you to achieve the bust of your dreams with breast augmentation. This procedure has helped countless women over the years, and the techniques and tools used have only improved over time. This may be just the procedure you’ve been looking for to finally have the breasts that make you happy.

Bust Size and Self-Confidence

If you do not like something about your appearance, it affects your self-confidence. It’s that simple. If you feel that your breasts are too small or that they are asymmetrical, it can make you feel uncomfortable in the clothing that you wear. Breast augmentation procedures have helped many women achieve a voluptuous bust or symmetrical breasts.

Even if you are generally a confident person, feeling uncomfortable with one aspect of your body is enough to throw off your self-confidence in certain settings. Thanks to this surgical procedure, you are able to have the full breasts or the symmetrical breasts you have always wanted, and the process may be easier than you initially thought!

Your Consultation

Maybe you are on the fence about having this procedure performed. The idea of enhancing your breasts sounds inviting, but you feel like you need more information. This is perfectly understandable. In fact, the more educated you are about the decision, the happier you will likely be with the end results. This is why we encourage our clients to sit down with us and have a detailed consultation. During that consultation, we are going to discuss what your aesthetic goals are. We will be able to discuss any health challenges that you are facing and answer any questions you have about the procedure, the recovery, and the results.

Are You a Good Candidate for This Procedure?

There is no such thing as a one-size-fits-all guidebook for who is or who is not a good candidate for this procedure. There are a number of factors that need to be considered. For example, you need to be physically healthy. Breast augmentation is very safe and a well researched procedure. It has been performed countless times over the years. Still, in order for you to get the most out of it, you need to be healthy. The healthier you are, the better your body will respond to it. This is especially true when talking about the quality of your skin. The more elastic your skin is, the better it is going to conform to a natural shape following your surgery.

In order to be a good candidate for breast augmentation, you need to actually want to have larger breasts. Some people may feel pressured by others to have the surgery. They may feel that if they have an augmentation procedure, the people in their life will like them more or they will be able to make someone love them. These are not good reasons for having a surgical procedure (or any procedure for that matter). If you are going to have this procedure done, it should be because you want to do something to improve the way you look for yourself. It should be because you are self-conscious or uncomfortable with the current size or symmetry of your breasts and want to correct it.

Along the same lines, a good candidate is someone who has realistic expectations regarding the surgery and the results. Your body, including your size and frame, is going to dictate how big your breasts could realistically be. During your consultation with our team at Restore SD Plastic Surgery, we are going to lay out the different possibilities that are available. If you go into the procedure with a realistic expectation of the end results, you are most likely going to be happy when the procedure is complete. However, if you have unrealistic expectations for what this procedure is going to do to you physically or emotionally, you may not be the best candidate for it.

For example, if you think this procedure is going to change you as a person, think again. Yes, it will make your breasts larger or more symmetrical; however, you are still going to be you. It’s important to understand what the limitations are and what to expect when all is said and done.

What are the Next Steps?

By taking the time to research this procedure, you have already taken some of the first steps in getting the breast size that you want. Your research could include looking at images of celebrities who have had a similar procedure. Or you may want to look at before and after photographs on various surgeons’ websites in order to see what kind of results they can deliver.

Once you get a basic idea of how you want to look after your breast augmentation procedure, the next step is for you to schedule an appointment with us. We will discuss the types of breast implants that are available and the techniques that are available for performing this procedure.

During our consultation here at Restore SD Plastic Surgery, we will discuss things like whether saline or silicone implants are best for you. We will discuss the shape you want your implants to be. We will discuss the pros and cons of different placement options. For example, some opt to have the implant placed directly under their breast tissue, and others opt to have it placed underneath their chest muscles. We will also discuss where the incisions will be placed with the goal of giving you the most natural appearance possible.

We will also make sure to discuss what to expect during the recovery process. Since breast augmentation is a surgical procedure, there is some downtime involved. It’s important to take it as easy as possible during this time in order to heal fully and enjoy the best results possible. Don’t overexert yourself or start performing activities too soon, as this can compromise your recovery and the final results. Our team will make sure to provide you with aftercare instructions regarding your recovery.

What to Expect During the Procedure

Breast augmentation is an outpatient procedure. It is typically performed under general anesthesia in order to ensure your comfort throughout the process. Depending on the complexity of the surgery and the desired outcome, the surgery could take as little as one hour or up to multiple hours. Because you are going to be under general anesthesia, you will need to have an authorized adult drive you home after the procedure. It will be good to have an individual stay with you overnight as you go through the first days of your recovery.

For the first few days, you are going to need to stay away from strenuous activity. However, in the days and weeks following your procedure, you’re going to be able to go back to your regular routine as our surgeon approves this.

Once you have fully recovered, you can enjoy the results of your breast augmentation surgery for years to come. You can enjoy the various benefits that come along with having a bust that makes you happy. You can wear clothing that you might not have considered wearing in the past. You can live your life feeling more confident and attractive.

If you received breast augmentation in order to correct asymmetry, you can finally enjoy what it’s like to have even breasts that match one another. This can make a big difference in your quality of life. It can even improve other aspects of your life that you might not have initially thought possible. For instance, it could lead to better relationships and more opportunities in your career, depending on your field.
