Summer Guide to Plastic Surgery

Summer is here in San Diego!  Whether you look forward to taking a much-needed vacation or visiting family for a reunion, summer is time to look your best. Female board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Katerina Gallus and the team at Restore SD Plastic Surgery offers several services that can help you shine at graduations and weddings alike.

Protect your skin

Let’s start with the foundation of summer care – sunscreen.  Sunscreen should be worn daily!  Physical sunscreens that are mineral based are more effective and avoid the harmful chemicals that can damage reefs and marine life.  Our Restore SD Plastic Surgery Tinted Physical and Sheer Physical Sunscreen contain micronized zinc and antioxidants to provide broad spectrum UVA/UVB 50+ protection.  Applying sunscreen daily will protect your skin and any investment you make in looking refreshed.

Use skin treatments to brighten and hydrate before events

Now that you are protecting your skin, let’s talk about a few ways to freshen up before a big event.  Our most popular aesthetician service is the Dermal Infusion facial. This skin resurfacing treatment exfoliates damaged skin cells and simultaneously infuses s a serum to hydrate and volumize skin. The treatment can be done a day or two prior to a night out or even the same day.  There is no downtime and makeup can be applied right away so that you have fresh and glowing skin for any event.

Treat wrinkles or lost volume

If you want to smooth facial lines before a photo opportunity, Botox® Cosmetic is a great option.  Since Botox takes about 7-10 days to see the full effect, you should plan time for the treatment in advance of the occasion.  For those that find it hard to beat the summer heat, Botox® Cosmetic can be used to treat the underarm area to decrease sweating and help save your clothes.  This effective treatment dispenses with the underarm stains that come with perspiring in the sun or spending a night on the dance floor.

Another facial rejuvenation option is injectable fillers.  Great for cheeks, lips, and the smile lines around the mouth, fillers produce an instant change.  There can be a little swelling or bruising around the injection site for a few days so it best to get fillers done a week or two before you need to be out and about at a big event.

Take care of unwanted hair

Having your underarms, legs, and bikini area taken care of makes life much easier.  Laser hair reduction is a popular procedure for the summer months.  Time and patience are required since hair grows in different phases and it can take 6 or more treatments to optimize the results.  Legs, underarms, and the bikini area are all commonly treated areas.  Laser hair reduction works best on dark hair with light skin tones.  If you need a quicker fix, our neighbors at Bare Elegance Waxing Salon in La Jolla are experts in all areas waxing, eyebrow shaping, and have just introduced microblading to define and accent brows.  Our services complement each other, and the offices are in very close proximity.  We are proud to recommend Bare Elegance to our clients and know that they will be well cared for.

Treat yourself to a procedure

For those considering a surgery such as Breast Augmentation, Tummy Tuck, Liposuction or a complete Mommy Makeover — there is still time to schedule your surgery and recover to be set for your end of summer vacation or event.

When you want to look your best, female board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Katerina Gallus is here for you. Call 858-224-2281 or contact us online to arrange your consultation at Restore SD Plastic Surgery.  We look forward to seeing you and helping you bring your inner beauty forward this summer.
